Normally we should write MOR but it is MAR or MA. So why these abbreviations ?
These are two reasons, the first is: In Arabic, Morocco is called “Maghrib” and the “gh” is pronounced as “r”, it is for this reason that we find the abbreviation MAR for Morocco.
The second is : In Spanich we say “Marruecos” and in French we say “Maroc”.
Depending on the language, “morocco” is pronounced differently and that is why the abbreviation is MA
